Awami League General Secretary, Obaidul Quader, revealed that a comprehensive survey is currently underway to extend the metro rail route from Uttara to Tongi in the capital city. The announcement came during the inauguration of the Bangabandhu Corner at the metro rail depot in Uttara’s Diabari on Saturday.
Quader further stated that the construction of the extended section from Motijheel to Kamalapur is slated for completion by June 2025. Discussions regarding the extension timeline, particularly during events like Bishwa Ijtema and Ekushey Book Fair, will be held, and decisions will be made accordingly.
Highlighting the commitment to passenger convenience, Quader emphasized that maximum facilities will be provided in the metro rail system. Additionally, he outlined ambitious plans for the future, aiming to launch six lines of metro rail by 2030.
