The Directorate of Primary Education has announced a new oath to be recited after the national anthem in all government and private primary schools across Bangladesh. This change, revealed in an official order on Tuesday, will also apply to daily gatherings at Primary Training Institutes (PTIs).
The newly introduced oath is: “I take an oath that I will always dedicate myself to serving humanity. I will remain loyal to the country. I will always strive to maintain the unity and integrity of the country. O Great Allah/Great Creator, grant me strength so that I may serve Bangladesh and help build it into a strong and exemplary nation. Ameen.”
This new oath replaces the previous one, which focused on honoring the sacrifices made during Bangladesh’s liberation struggle and upholding the ideals of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The change marks a shift in the messaging given to young students, emphasizing service to humanity and national unity.
