The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has announced a significant increase in gold prices, with 22-carat gold reaching a record-breaking Tk124,501 per bhori. This new pricing, set to take effect from Wednesday, marks an increase of Tk1,516 from the previous rate of Tk122,985 per bhori.
Masudur Rahman, Chairman of Bajus’s Pricing and Monitoring Committee, attributed the price hike to the rising cost of raw gold. Under the updated pricing, 21-carat gold will be priced at Tk118,832 per bhori, 18-carat gold at Tk101,861, and traditional gold at Tk84,214 per bhori.
Despite the surge in gold prices, silver prices remain unchanged. The current rates for silver are Tk2,100 per bhori for 22-carat, Tk2,060 for 21-carat, Tk1,715 for 18-carat, and Tk1,280 for traditional silver.
