The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has ordered the freezing of bank accounts belonging to former education minister Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury Nowfel and his family members. The directive, issued on Monday, mandates all banks across Bangladesh to halt transactions from the accounts of Nowfel, his wife, and their children.
In addition to freezing the accounts, banks have been instructed to provide the BFIU with detailed account information, including account opening forms and transaction histories, within five days.
This move follows a series of similar actions taken by the BFIU after the fall of the government on August 5, targeting several high-profile leaders and ministers of the Awami League.
