Students from the Anti-Discrimination Movement uncovered a significant cache of indigenous weapons in dormitories controlled by the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) at Dhaka Teachers’ Training College on Sunday afternoon. The recovered arsenal included knives, machetes, sickles, rods, hockey sticks, batons, and cricket stumps.
Hasibul Islam, a coordinator of the movement, stated that they had received information indicating that the BCL had maintained control over the dormitories for an extended period, using them to store a large number of weapons. Acting on this tip, the students searched each room in the dormitories, leading to the discovery of the weapons.
Islam further mentioned that these weapons had been used by BCL leaders and activists on several occasions, most recently in attacks against protesters during the quota reform movement. While teachers from the college were present during the operation, no BCL leaders were found on the premises.
