Individuals who faced false or harassment-related criminal cases during the anti-discrimination student movement from July 1 to August 5 can now access legal assistance through the National Legal Aid Services Organization’s toll-free helpline (16430).
According to a memorandum signed by Farin Farzana, Assistant Director of the organization under the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, a meeting on August 10 led to five significant decisions, one of which was to offer legal aid to those targeted by false cases during the student protests.
The decision, aimed at supporting victims of unjust legal actions, has been officially communicated and is available on the National Legal Aid Services Organization’s website.
It’s important to note that the National Helpline 16430 was initially launched on April 28, 2016, to provide free legal aid to impoverished and distressed individuals.
