Jagannath University (JnU) will resume all academic activities, including in-person classes, starting Sunday. The decision was made by Prof Md Humayun Kabir Chowdhury, the university’s treasurer, following a meeting with teachers and protesting students.
Initially, the university planned to continue with online classes, but students and teachers from various departments opposed the idea, leading to the decision to resume in-person classes.
Urmi Akter Jhinuk, a student from the Mass Communication and Journalism department, expressed relief, saying, “We have been away from academic subjects for too long due to the university closure. Resuming in-person classes will help us regain our learning momentum.”
Another student, Ashiqur Rahman, shared his excitement, stating, “It feels great to think about getting back to studies and seeing all our friends again. The learning environment will finally return to normal.”
The university had been closed for over a month due to the students’ quota reform movement and the teachers’ universal pension assurance scheme. With the situation now stabilized, students are eager to return to their academic routines after the extended break.
