Train services on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route were restored early Saturday after an eight-hour disruption caused by the derailment of a coach from the Padma Express. The incident occurred around 9pm on Friday when the last coach of the Dhaka-bound train derailed at Salna in Gazipur.
Despite the derailment, the Padma Express continued to Joydebpur junction, leaving the derailed coach behind. Train operations were restored at 3:45am, confirmed Hanif Ali, the station master at Joydebpur junction.
A relief train from Dhaka reached the site around midnight to remove the derailed luggage van, allowing the track to be cleared. The derailment affected several trains on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route, including the Teesta Express, Jamalpur Express, Agnibina Express, and others, reported Sreepur Railway Station Master Saidur Rahman.
