Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) has commenced temperature screenings for all arriving passengers as part of a precautionary measure against Mpox, following a global public health alert issued by the World Health Organization (WHO).
HSIA Executive Director Group Captain Kamrul Islam stated, “Passengers displaying symptoms will be referred to Kurmitola General Hospital, Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH), or Kuwait Maitree Hospital if necessary.”
This decision was made during a meeting held by airport authorities on Friday in response to WHO’s alert. The airport’s health department has already set up the necessary infrastructure to manage passengers showing symptoms of the virus.
Passengers who develop symptoms within 21 days of arrival are advised to call the hotline at 10655 for assistance.
