The four newly appointed advisers, sworn in on Friday, have been assigned their respective ministries, as confirmed by Shafiqul Alam, the press secretary of the interim government’s chief adviser. President Mohammed Shahabuddin administered the oaths to the advisers.
The new advisers include Wahiduddin Mahmud, a noted economist and former adviser to the 1996 caretaker government; Ali Imam Majumdar, former cabinet secretary and special assistant to the chief adviser; Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, former power secretary; and Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.
Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has been appointed as the new Home Affairs Adviser, replacing Brig Gen (retd) M Sakhawat Hossain, and will also oversee the Ministry of Agriculture. Sakhawat Hossain has been reassigned to the Ministry of Textiles and Jute.
Economist Wahiduddin Mahmud has been entrusted with the Ministry of Planning and the Ministry of Education. Former Cabinet Secretary Ali Imam Majumdar has been attached to the office of the Chief Adviser.
Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan has taken charge of three key ministries: the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, and the Ministry of Railways.
