In a recent shake-up within the interim government, Lieutenant General (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has replaced Brigadier General (retd) Sakhawat Hussain as the Home Adviser. The changes, announced on Friday, are part of a broader reshuffling within the advisory council.
Sakhawat Hussain has now been assigned the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, as per a statement from the chief adviser’s Press Wing. Jahangir Alam, the former Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), was among four new advisers who were sworn in on Friday afternoon.
The redistribution of responsibilities also saw the newly appointed advisers receiving their portfolios. President Mohammed Shahabuddin administered the oaths to the new advisers, which include Wahiduddin Mahmud, an economist and former adviser to the 1996 caretaker government, Ali Imam Majumdar, a former cabinet secretary, and Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, a former power secretary.
Shafiqul Alam, the press secretary to the chief adviser, provided details on the appointments and changes within the interim government.
