A fresh case has been filed against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 10 others in connection with the death of an autorickshaw driver named Shahabuddin in Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area. The case was lodged on Thursday at the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Farah Diba Chanda court by Abul Kamal.
The court accepted the plaintiff’s statement and directed the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station to register the case. The other accused include former Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Law Minister Anisul Huq, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s private industry and investment adviser Salman F Rahman, Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud, State Minister for Information Mohammad Ali Arafat, IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, among others.
According to the case statement, on August 5, Shahabuddin was fatally shot in the head while on his way to get food for his family at the West Agargaon intersection near the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station.
