Police have arrested former Deputy Speaker Shamsul Haque Tuku and former State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak in connection with a murder case filed at Paltan Police Station. The arrests took place in the Nikunja residential area, as confirmed by sources within the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Wednesday night.
Tanvir Hasan Shaikat, General Secretary of Dhaka University’s Chhatra League unit, was also apprehended during the operation. According to DMP, the individuals had been hiding in the Nikunja area under Khilket Police Station.
This follows the arrest of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s private industry affairs adviser Salman F Rahman and former law minister Anisul Huq, who were captured by coast guards on Tuesday while attempting to flee via the river route from Sadarghat, Dhaka.
