The Ministry of Education has announced that all educational institutions under its jurisdiction will reopen and resume academic activities starting Sunday. The directive, issued on Thursday, follows instructions from the chief adviser of the interim government.
Educational institutions were initially closed indefinitely on July 17 due to clashes during the recent protests demanding job quota reforms. Although there were plans to resume classes on August 4 in government primary schools, except those in the 12 city corporations and Narsingdi municipality, this was postponed due to ongoing unrest.
After the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government amid the protests, the decision was made to reopen educational institutions on August 7. However, regular classes have not fully resumed, and attendance remains low due to the current situation.
Additionally, the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education directed the full reopening of primary schools and the resumption of classroom activities starting Wednesday.
