The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement has announced the start of a “Resistance Week” program to press for their four key demands. The week-long initiative kicks off on Tuesday, aiming to mobilize support nationwide. Abu Baker Majumdar, a leading coordinator of the movement, shared details about the program.
Majumdar stated, “On Tuesday, we will hold marches at locations where our national heroes were martyred during recent protests. At these sites, we will observe a minute of silence and offer prayers in their memory.” In Dhaka, activists will gather at the Anti-Terrorism Raju Memorial Sculpture at Dhaka University at 3 PM on Tuesday.
The four demands of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement are:
- Establishment of a special tribunal for the speedy trial of atrocities committed under the fascist framework by Sheikh Hasina, her party, and government.
- Immediate justice for the planned violence and looting against minorities by the Awami League and its allies, with recognition of the minorities’ legitimate demands.
- Removal and prosecution of those in the administration and judiciary who have supported and legitimized these massacres, and who are attempting to establish a fascist system.
- Ensuring equal opportunities for those within the administration and judiciary who have faced discrimination.
The movement’s demands are rooted in recent events and reflect their call for justice and reform across the nation’s institutions.
