Jagannath University (JnU) students, with support from their teachers, have initiated a movement to reclaim 11 halls currently under illegal occupation. Additionally, they plan to reoccupy the Dhupkhola field, which was previously used by students.
Nur Nabi, the chief coordinator of the JnU anti-discrimination student movement, announced the campaign in a video message on Monday. He also confirmed that the university treasurer would remain in his position.
The hall recovery movement, led by Nur Nabi, is scheduled to begin at 10 AM on Tuesday. The students are hopeful that the treasurer will accept their 13-point demand, which includes the resignation of the entire proctorial body, banning student politics on campus, and freeing the occupied dormitories for allocation based on merit.
Earlier, on Sunday, student leaders of the anti-discrimination movement held an exchange meeting with fellow students, during which they formulated their 13-point demand. This includes not only administrative changes but also improvements to the academic atmosphere and measures to prevent political influence on campus.
