The High Court has ordered authorities not to collect tolls from ambulances transporting patients on roads, highways, bridges, and flyovers across the country. The directive was issued by the High Court bench of Justice Sheikh Hassan Arif and Justice Md Bazlur Rahman after hearing a writ petition.
Advocate Md Monir Uddin, representing the petitioner, argued that halting ambulances to collect tolls is inhumane, as every second is critical for a patient’s survival. The petition highlighted instances where patients were stranded at toll plazas, sometimes succumbing to their conditions before the ambulance could proceed.
