Former Justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik has issued a formal apology for his inappropriate behavior during a recent talk show, where he referred to the host, Dipti Choudhury, as a “child of a Razakar.” In addition to his verbal apology, Justice Manik also extended a written apology on Monday to Supreme Court senior lawyer Fawzia Karim Feroze.
The incident occurred during a heated discussion on the quota reform movement, where Justice Manik allegedly lost his temper and directed derogatory remarks towards the host. Following the incident, a legal notice was served to Justice Manik by the Foundation for Law and Development (FLAD), demanding both a public and written apology.
In his response, Justice Manik explained that his outburst was due to health issues, including hypertension and diabetes, which were exacerbated by fatigue on the day of the talk show. He expressed deep regret for his actions, conveying his apology through a WhatsApp message and a handwritten letter.
The video of the incident quickly circulated on social media, sparking widespread criticism. Justice Manik’s public and written apologies were seen as a step towards resolving the matter. The notice had warned of legal action if the apologies were not issued.
