The Chief Adviser of the interim government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, held a meeting with senior BNP leaders on Monday afternoon. The meeting, which began at 4 PM at the chief adviser’s residence, was attended by BNP standing committee members led by Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
According to Sayrul Kabir Khan, a member of BNP’s media cell, Dr. Yunus had invited the BNP leaders to the meeting. This marks the first formal discussion between the interim government head and BNP leaders since the government’s formation on August 8.
Prominent BNP leaders in attendance included Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Mirza Abbas, Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan, Salahuddin Ahmed, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, and others.
The interim government, led by Nobel laureate economist Dr. Muhammad Yunus, was established following the resignation and subsequent flight of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who stepped down amid a student-led mass movement.
