All government primary schools under eight city corporation areas in the country have been declared closed indefinitely for the safety of students, announced the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education on Wednesday morning.
According to a press release signed by Mahbubur Rahman Tuhin, senior information officer of the ministry, academic activities at all government primary schools, as well as other primary schools and learning centres run by Shishu Kallyan Trust and the Bureau of Non-Formal Education, will remain suspended until further notice.
This announcement follows the University Grants Commission’s (UGC) decision on Tuesday night to close all public and private universities until further notice, citing concerns for student safety amid the ongoing quota reform movement.
