A writ petition has been filed seeking directions to create a new list declaring all citizens of Bangladesh in 1971 as freedom fighters, excluding collaborators like the Razakar force who aided Pakistan during the Liberation War.
Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Eunus Ali Akand filed the writ on Tuesday.
The secretary of the Ministry of Liberation War, the chairman of the National Freedom Fighters Council, and related parties have been named as defendants in the writ.
The writ argues that the current list of freedom fighters should be canceled and all citizens of Bangladesh from 1971 should be declared freedom fighters. It also requests instructions to compile a new list including the names of all 1971 citizens as freedom fighters.
