Another individual has died from injuries sustained during a protest rally organized by the “Anti-Discrimination Student Movement” demanding quota reform in government jobs.
The fatality occurred during a clash between Chhatra League members and protesters at the Science Lab intersection in Dhaka, bringing the death toll in the capital to two. The identities of the deceased in Dhaka remain unknown.
The latest incident happened around 7 pm when an injured person was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Inspector Md Bachchu Mia, in charge of the DMCH hospital police outpost, confirmed the death. He reported that the individual was found injured in front of City College and was initially taken to Popular Hospital by pedestrians. From there, he was transported to DMCH by ambulance, where doctors confirmed his death due to head injuries. The individual was wearing jeans and a black T-shirt.
Earlier in the afternoon, another injured person was taken to DMCH from the area in front of Dhaka College and was also declared dead upon arrival.
Both bodies have been kept in the DMCH morgue.
These incidents contribute to a total of six deaths reported on Tuesday in Dhaka, Chattogram, and Rangpur amid the ongoing student movement demanding quota reform.
