Dhaka University (DU) Assistant Proctor Prof Abdul Muhith sustained injuries during an altercation with students protesting for quota system reforms in government jobs.
Around 4:40 pm, the university’s proctorial team, led by Prof Muhith, was using a loudspeaker to ask people to vacate the campus in front of the Central Shaheed Minar. However, the protesters reacted aggressively and drove the team away.
As the teachers retreated, two protesters attacked them from behind, causing Prof Muhith, a faculty member of the pharmacy department, to fall and injure his leg. He was subsequently taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.
