The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has announced a hike in gold prices within a week. The price of gold per bhori (11.664 grams) has increased by Tk1,189, setting the new price at Tk120,080 for 22-carat gold, effective from Monday.
Previously, on Sunday, high-quality gold was sold at Tk118,891 per bhori. This update was conveyed in a press release by Masudur Rahman, chairman of the Standing Committee on Price Determination and Price Monitoring of Bajus.
Bajus indicated that the sharp rise in the local market’s pure gold price necessitated the new pricing. As per the revised rates, the best quality (22-carat) gold is now priced at Tk120,080, 21-carat gold at Tk114,622, 18-carat gold at Tk98,245, and traditional gold at Tk81,228. Despite the gold price increase, silver prices have remained stable.
