The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) approved a chargesheet on Thursday against Bengal Group Chairman Abul Khair Litu, accusing him of amassing wealth worth Tk90 crore beyond his known sources of income. ACC Deputy Director Aktarul Islam confirmed this to Dhaka Tribune.
The chargesheet alleges that Abul Khair Litu illegally accumulated wealth and concealed information about it. The ACC Deputy Director Kamruzzaman and the investigation officer of the case submitted the chargesheet to the commission’s regular meeting for approval last week.
According to the chargesheet, the Bengal Group chairman also concealed information about his wealth worth Tk11.12 lakh in his wealth statement submitted to the commission.
Additionally, ACC Deputy Director Monayem Hossain filed a case on Thursday against Abul Khair Litu’s wife, Mahua Khair, for amassing illegal wealth worth Tk2.52 crore. The case statement reveals that Mahua Khair submitted a wealth statement showing assets worth Tk6.66 crore. However, the ACC discovered that she accumulated wealth totaling Tk7.24 crore, with legal sources for only Tk4.71 crore.
On April 17 last year, the ACC filed a case against Abul Khair Litu with its integrated district office in Dhaka-1.
