Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) carried out a mosquito eradication drive in Adabar on Tuesday, resulting in fines totaling Tk150,000 for three under-construction buildings found with Aedes larvae.
Executive Magistrate Md Abdur Rafiul Alam led the operation at Ward No 30 in Region-5 of the DNCC around noon. The drive targeted houses, commercial buildings, under-construction sites, and vacant plots to combat the spread of mosquitoes.
During the operation, the executive magistrate inspected at least 50 houses. In a parallel effort, Executive Magistrate Syema Hasan conducted a similar mosquito eradication operation in Rupnagar residential area of Mirpur under Region-2. Aedes larvae were discovered in three houses, resulting in fines of Tk11,000 for the homeowners.
Additionally, regional executive officers from other areas of the DNCC also carried out mosquito eradication drives. Assistant health officers visited 10 regions of DNCC, distributing leaflets to raise awareness about dengue prevention.
