Local residents have expressed satisfaction following the announcement that the Chandana commuter train will now make a stop in Faridpur. This train travels from Rajbari to Dhaka.
On the first day of the new stoppage, passengers were seen queuing yesterday morning. The train stopped in Faridpur at 5:35 AM, waited for two minutes, and then departed for Dhaka.
On May 25, local residents had protested at the railway station, demanding this stoppage for the Chandana commuter train. Selim Mia, one of the protesters, said that the new stop is the result of a two-month struggle and thanked the railway minister for the initiative.
Station Master Sujal Ali Sardar confirmed that the train will stop in Faridpur six days a week, except for Friday. He stated, “The tickets from Faridpur to Bhanga are Tk45. Passengers will have to buy another ticket to travel from Bhanga to Dhaka. The return train will arrive in Faridpur at 8 PM.”
On May 4, two pairs of commuter trains were inaugurated on the Rajbari-Dhaka route, enhancing connectivity for local commuters.
