The price of diesel and kerosene in Bangladesh has been reduced by Tk1 per litre, bringing the new price down to Tk106.75 from Tk107.75. However, the prices of petrol and octane remain unchanged at Tk127 and Tk131 per litre, respectively, as per a notification issued by the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources on Sunday night.
The revised prices will take effect from Monday. The ministry stated that the government has been adjusting fuel prices monthly since March, based on global market trends and using an automatic formula. Despite a slight decrease in global fuel prices, the cost of importing fuel has risen due to the devaluation of the taka against the US dollar.
In June, diesel and kerosene prices were increased by Tk0.75 per litre, while petrol and octane prices rose by Tk2.5 per litre. In May, the prices for diesel and kerosene increased by Tk1 per litre, and petrol and octane by Tk2.5 per litre. However, prices had decreased in March and April.
