Dhaka has slipped further in the Global Liveability Index 2024, ranking 168th out of 173 cities, as per the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) report released on Thursday. This marks a decline from its 166th position last year.
Topping the list is Vienna, Austria, praised for its exceptional infrastructure, vibrant culture, and high-quality education and healthcare. Other top cities include Copenhagen (Denmark), Zurich (Switzerland), Melbourne (Australia), and Calgary (Canada). Osaka, Japan, ranks as the highest Asian city at ninth place with a score of 96, while Dhaka scores 43, placing it sixth from the bottom.
The EIU’s rankings are determined by evaluating key factors such as healthcare, education, stability, infrastructure, and environment.
