Bangladesh Bank announced on Monday that banks in industrial areas will remain open on a limited scale from June 14-16 to ensure the payment of wages, bonuses, and allowances to garment workers.
Banks outside industrial areas will be closed from Friday to Saturday due to the weekly holiday and will remain closed on Sunday for Eid.
Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated in Bangladesh on June 17.
The notification specified that bank branches in Dhaka, Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Bhaluka, and Narayanganj will be open on a limited scale from June 14-16 to facilitate payments to garment industry workers and handle export bill transactions.
Additionally, banks in Chittagong metropolitan and industrial areas will also operate during these dates to support garment workers and manage export bills.
The central bank has directed banks to coordinate with local administration to ensure adequate security at the open branches.
