Another death from dengue was reported in Bangladesh within the 24 hours leading up to Sunday morning, increasing the mosquito-borne disease’s fatality count to 38 for the year.
During this period, 25 additional patients were hospitalized with viral fever, as reported by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). Seven of these patients were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka, with the remaining cases occurring outside the capital.
The latest dengue victim was from the Dhaka South City Corporation area.
Currently, 141 patients are receiving treatment in various hospitals nationwide. Since January 1, a total of 3,056 dengue cases have been reported.
Last year marked the deadliest year on record for dengue in Bangladesh, with 1,705 fatalities. The DGHS documented 321,179 dengue cases and 318,749 recoveries throughout the year.
