The Election Commission has postponed the upazila parishad election in Baghaichhari, Rangamati, citing concerns over deteriorating law and order and adverse weather conditions.
Rangamati Senior Election Officer Mohammad Monir Hossain confirmed the decision on Saturday. He mentioned that election materials could not be dispatched to remote centers due to bad weather. Furthermore, the overall law and order situation prompted the Election Commission to delay the election in Baghaichhari.
Additionally, the UPDF is enforcing a dawn-to-dusk blockade in Baghaichhari on Saturday, protesting against threats to the agents of the Baghaichhari upazila parishad chairman and female vice-chairman candidate of Rangamati and demanding fair elections.
