On Monday, the government set the price of cowhide at Tk55-60 per square foot in the capital and Tk50-55 outside of it. This decision was made during a meeting at the Secretariat to determine rawhide prices for Eid-ul-Azha.
Mohiuddin Ahmed Mahim, chairman of the Bangladesh Finished Leather, Leather Goods, and Footwear Exporters Association, announced the prices in the presence of State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu. According to the new rates, each piece of cowhide is priced at Tk1,200 in the capital and Tk1,000 outside the capital.
