Bangladesh Railway started selling advance train tickets online on Sunday morning to ensure a hassle-free journey for passengers ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
Tickets for June 12 trains went on sale on Sunday morning. Sales for westbound trains began at 8 AM, while tickets for eastbound trains will be available at 2 PM. Tickets for June 13, 14, 15, and 16 will be sold on June 3, 4, 5, and 6, respectively. All tickets will be sold online, as in previous occasions.
Steps to Buy Advance Train Tickets for Eid
- Register for an Account: Intercity train ticket buyers must register by verifying their NID/Passport/Birth Certificate.
- SMS Registration: Go to the message option on your mobile phone, type BR NID number date of birth, and send an SMS to 26969. You will receive an SMS to confirm your request.
- Online Registration: Complete the registration by verifying the NID number and date of birth on the Bangladesh Railway website or the Rail Sheba application on Google Play.
- Foreign Nationals: Complete registration by providing passport numbers and uploading a passport-size photo. Passengers aged 12-18 years must register with their birth registration number and upload their birth certificate.
- Mandatory Registration: Registration is mandatory even for passengers opting to travel while standing.
- Purchase Limit: A passenger can purchase a maximum of four tickets. Names and NID/Birth Registration Numbers of co-passengers must be provided while purchasing tickets online.
- Carry Necessary Documents: While traveling, passengers must carry a photocopy or soft copy of their NID, birth certificate, or passport. If a passenger’s name and the information provided during registration do not match, action will be taken according to Bangladesh Railway laws.
