The government has announced an increase in the prices of diesel, kerosene, petrol, and octane, reflecting adjustments to the international market and the devaluation of the taka against the US dollar. Diesel and kerosene prices will rise by Tk0.75 per litre, while petrol and octane will increase by Tk2.50 per litre at the consumer level.
These new prices will take effect on Saturday, according to a notice from Mir Mohammad Aslam Uddin, deputy chief information officer of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, issued on Thursday night. The adjusted prices set diesel and kerosene at Tk107.75 per litre, petrol at Tk127, and octane at Tk131.
Despite a decrease in global petroleum prices, the Energy and Mineral Resources Division stated that the local price increase is due to the devaluation of the taka against the US dollar. Since March, the government has been announcing adjusted fuel prices monthly.
