A moderate earthquake with a magnitude of 5.4 jolted Dhaka and other parts of Bangladesh on Wednesday evening, causing widespread panic among residents. The tremors, felt at 7:13 pm, lasted for a few seconds.
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the earthquake’s epicenter was located in the Mawlaik district of Sagaing State, Myanmar. Although no damage was reported at the time of filing this report, social media users described the shaking as very remarkable.
