The National Disaster Response Coordination Centre (NDRCC) reported on Sunday that Cyclone Remal destroyed approximately 275,000 houses across 19 coastal districts of Bangladesh. The cyclone also claimed at least 16 lives, with some media outlets reporting up to 21 fatalities.
The NDRCC’s daily bulletin detailed the devastation: 40,338 houses were completely destroyed and 133,528 partially damaged. Khulna district suffered the most, with 20,762 houses totally destroyed, followed by Bagerhat with 10,000 houses. Nearly 4.6 million people have been affected by the storm.
State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Md Mohibbur Rahman confirmed on Monday that 150,457 houses were damaged, including 35,483 fully destroyed across 107 unions and 914 municipalities.
