Due to the impact of Cyclone Remal, flight operations at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong have been suspended for eight hours, from 12pm to 8pm on Sunday. Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil, the airport’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the suspension. The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued great danger signal no. 9 for Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar ports, and signal no. 10 for Mongla and Payra ports. Coastal districts including Khulna, Satkhira, Bagerhat, Pirojpur, Jhalakathi, Barguna, Bhola, and Patuakhali are also under great danger signal no. 10. Cyclone Remal has intensified into a severe storm and is expected to make landfall on Sunday, affecting the coasts of Bangladesh and India’s West Bengal.
