The movement of bulkhead vessels will be halted for 11 days starting June 13 to ensure smooth vessel operations during Eid-ul-Azha.
Additionally, all trucks and covered vans, except those carrying cattle or perishable goods, will be suspended for seven days during the Eid-ul-Azha period.
This decision was made during a meeting at the Secretariat, chaired by State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, focusing on the movement of ferries, steamers, launches, and other vessels during Eid.
To accommodate increased travel demand, the number of ferries at Kazirhat and Paturia ferry terminals will be increased, and additional launches will be deployed on specific routes.
The minister highlighted that last year’s Eid journey was safe and similar measures are being implemented to ensure the safe travel of home-bound people this year.
Efforts are also being made to ensure the safe transportation of sacrificial animal-carrying vessels.
He urged everyone to regularly check weather bulletins when transporting passengers and sacrificial animals during Eid.
