The government has announced an incentive package worth Tk40.04 crore to expand the area and cultivation of the Aman crop this year.
According to an official release on Wednesday, 566,000 small and marginal farmers across 61 districts will receive essential seeds and fertilizers to cultivate transplant Aman. Each farmer will receive five kg of high-yielding variety (HYV) T-Aman seed, 10 kg of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP), and 10 kg of Muriate of Potash (MoP) fertilizer free of cost for use on one bigha of land.
These incentives are funded by the agriculture rehabilitation assistance and seed and seedlings sector of the regular agriculture ministry’s budget. A government order (GO) for this initiative has already been issued, and field-level distribution of the incentives will commence shortly.
