During its 2nd meeting chaired by HM Ibrahim at the Parliament Bhaban, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Labour and Employment Ministry put forth a crucial recommendation: an increase in the wages of river vessel workers. This significant move aims to address the longstanding issue of fair compensation for these workers.
In addition to advocating for higher wages, the parliamentary panel emphasized the importance of raising awareness about the government’s initiatives for workers through a comprehensive campaign.
Furthermore, discussions during the meeting extended to the evaluation of development projects under the ministry’s purview. The committee stressed the necessity of conducting feasibility studies before initiating new projects, ensuring efficient utilization of resources and optimal outcomes.
