Dhaka University (DU) is set to revolutionize library access with the implementation of a new smart card system aimed at regulating entry for former students, particularly those preparing for the BCS examination. Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof Dr ASM Maksud Kamal, announced this transformative initiative during a recent program, emphasizing its role in enhancing campus security and prioritizing resources for current students. Under this system, former students will no longer have unrestricted access to the central library, ensuring a conducive learning environment for DU’s enrolled students. Prof Dr ASM Maksud Kamal further elaborated on the multifaceted benefits of the smart card system, highlighting its potential to streamline administrative processes and align educational practices with global standards. This proactive approach, he noted, reflects DU’s commitment to fostering an academic environment on par with renowned institutions worldwide. Additionally, plans are underway to extend the smart card system to residential halls in the near future, aiming to address accommodation challenges and uphold campus integrity. The announcement was made during the “Fresher and Farewell Ceremony” of the Mass Communication and Journalism Department, underscoring DU’s dedication to innovation and student-centric policies.
