Bangladesh, after a brief respite from scorching temperatures due to rainfall on May 2, faces another surge in mercury levels this month, meteorologists warn. Anticipating nor’westers with possible hail within the next 72 hours, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department also forecasts gusty winds across several divisions.
While temperatures may slightly decrease on Friday, meteorologists predict rainfall persisting for three to four more days, potentially occurring at any hour. However, a subsequent rise in temperatures is expected, with readings reaching as high as 38 to 40 degrees Celsius in Rajshahi and Chuadanga, and 36 to 38 degrees Celsius in Dhaka.
Meteorologist Md Bazlur Rashid suggests that while temperatures may increase, rain showers will intermittently help moderate the heat. He anticipates another temperature rise in the second week of June preceding the onset of the rainy season on June 15.
