In a landmark event, Biman’s inaugural hajj flight took off from Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport bound for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, carrying 415 pilgrims on Thursday morning. Religious Affairs Minister Md Faridul Haque Khan, addressing the ceremony, highlighted the government’s meticulous arrangements to facilitate a seamless pilgrimage experience for Bangladeshi pilgrims embarking on the sacred journey to Makkah.
This year, a total of 85,257 Bangladeshis have been granted the opportunity to partake in the hajj pilgrimage, with Biman Bangladesh Airlines scheduling 117 pre-hajj flights from May 9 to June 10, capable of accommodating 45,525 pilgrims. Return flights from Saudi Arabia to Bangladesh are slated to commence on June 20.
The exact date for this year’s hajj is expected to be June 16, contingent upon the sighting of the moon, marking a significant spiritual milestone for Muslims worldwide.
