In the latest move reflecting market dynamics, Bangladesh’s jewelers have increased the price of 22-carat gold by Tk4,503 per bhori. This decision, announced by Masudur Rahman, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Price Determination and Price Monitoring of Bangladesh Jewelers Association (Bajus), is attributed to the recent surge in the price of acid gold locally.
Effective from Wednesday, the new price of 22-carat gold stands at Tk1,15,450 per bhori, up from Tk1,10,947 previously. This marks the third hike in gold prices within the current week, following an announcement of a Tk734 increase per bhori on Sunday.
This upward adjustment comes after eight consecutive reductions in gold prices throughout May, reflecting the volatility in the precious metal market. With this update, prices for other gold categories have also been revised, with 21-carat gold now set at Tk1,10,210, 18-carat gold at Tk64,355, and traditional method gold at Tk78,090.
In contrast, silver prices remain unchanged amidst these fluctuations in the gold market.
