The Saudi Arabian government has extended the deadline for Bangladeshi pilgrims to apply for Hajj visas until May 7, as confirmed by M Shahadat Hossain Taslim, President of the Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (Haab).
Initially set for April 29, the deadline for Hajj visa applications has now been pushed to May 7, following a request from the Minister of Religious Affairs. This extension, granted by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, ensures ample time for Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims to complete their visa formalities.
The inaugural Hajj flight from Dhaka to Saudi Arabia is scheduled for May 9. However, Muhammad Kamruzzaman, Director of the Dhaka Hajj Office, noted that the schedules for subsequent flights are yet to be finalized. Passengers will receive timely updates on the flight schedules.
This year, a total of 4,289 individuals have registered for Hajj under government arrangements, while 78,895 have registered under private management. The commencement of Hajj, which typically begins after the sighting of the moon, may occur on June 16.
Traditionally, Hajj flights commence approximately one month before the start of the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
