Commissioner Habibur Rahman of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued directives for the closure of temporary establishments, including tea stalls, at road junctions after 11pm to deter criminal activities, such as muggings, in the capital. The move aims to address the issue of criminals lingering at these makeshift shops late into the night, often leading to incidents of mugging. The directive was announced during the crime review meeting held at the Bangladesh Police Auditorium in Rajarbagh, attended by former police commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Mia as the guest of honor. Commissioner Rahman emphasized the importance of vigilance to prevent unethical activities and panic-inducing acts in the Dhaka metropolitan area, stressing the need for strict action against criminal gangs. Additionally, he underscored the importance of verifying vehicles with police stickers to prevent misuse by unauthorized individuals, instructing the Crime and Traffic Department of DMP to monitor the situation closely.
