Padma Bridge achieves a significant milestone as toll collection surpasses Tk1,500 crore, marking a remarkable feat since its inauguration. As per the latest figures provided by bridge authorities, the toll collection stands at Tk1,502,62,15,900 as of 11:59 pm on Saturday, highlighting the robust utilization of the country’s largest bridge. Since its opening, a total of 11,291,095 vehicles have traversed both ends of the bridge. Among these, 56,01,232 vehicles have crossed via the Mawa border, while 56,89,863 vehicles have passed through the Jazira end. Confirming the achievement, Padma Bridge Site Office Additional Director, Md Amirul Haider Chowdhury, emphasized the ongoing seamless toll collection process, indicating steady progress. The inauguration of Padma Bridge by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on June 25, 2022, marked a historic moment. Subsequently, the bridge opened for traffic the following day, witnessing an impressive debut with 51,316 vehicles utilizing the bridge. On that inaugural day, toll collection amounted to Tk2,09,31,550, setting a promising trajectory for the bridge’s operational success.
