In response to advice from the Ministry of Health and the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, secondary schools, colleges, madrasas, and technical educational institutions across Dhaka, Chuadanga, Jessore, Khulna, and Rajshahi districts will be closed on Monday.
However, institutions with air conditioning have the option to remain open, as per a circular released by the Ministry of Education on Sunday evening.
Further decisions regarding closures will be announced on Monday.
The country, including the capital Dhaka, is experiencing a moderate to severe heatwave, prompting the met office to issue a 72-hour heat alert nationwide.
The heatwave is expected to persist from April 28 to May 1, with heightened discomfort due to excessive humidity.
