In a proactive move to tackle the scorching heat gripping the city, the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has initiated a daily water sprinkling campaign from 10 am to 4 pm across 10 zones. Utilizing two spray cannons and ten bowsers, DNCC is dispersing approximately 400,000 litres of water each day.
As temperatures soar and the streets resemble fiery furnaces, DNCC’s efforts aim to alleviate the discomfort experienced by residents amidst the relentless heat waves.
Under the directives of DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam, this water sprinkling initiative operates even on holidays, reflecting the corporation’s commitment to combating extreme weather conditions.
These innovative machines are not only deployed during the summer months but also during winter, effectively curbing road dust and mitigating air pollution, ensuring a cleaner and healthier environment for all.
